Fourth of July Waterfront Celebration, Sunday, July 4, 2010, 3:00 PM to 9:30 PM PIER 39 celebrates Independence Day with a star-spangled day line-up of entertainment for the whole family. Beginning at 3 pm, enjoy free live band performances in the PIER 39 Entrance Plaza. Be sure to check out our street performers on the Crystal Geyser ALPINE SPRING WATER Stage throughout the day. After the concert at approximately 9:30 PM, look up to the sky over the Bay for The City of San Francisco’s annual fireworks display.

Knott’s Berry Farm is offering FREE admission, to any active or retired military personnel on July 4th and 5th. Illinois

Navy Pier will launch downtown’s fireworks at 9 PM on July 4. Simultaneous fireworks shows will launch on the north side lakefront, with prime viewing from Foster to Montrose, and on the south side lakefront, with prime viewing from 63 rd Street to
Promontory Point. This year’s 15 minute display is synchronized to a specially choreographed soundtrack of American themed and patriotic songs broadcast live on 101.9 THE MIX. Those unable to attend any of the three displays can watch it live
on WGNTV, Channel 9 during the one hour special entitled, “Chicago’s Summer Blast,” airing 8:30 until 9:30PM

Massachusetts

8:30pm-11pm – Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. Sponsored by Liberty Mutual, The centerpiece of the July 4th in Boston is the concert and fireworks on the Esplanade. Keith Lockhart conducts the Boston Pops, Esplanade Orchestra with special guests Fireworks Spectacular to follow. Get all the details at www.july4th.org.

Maryland

When I lived in the DC area I used to LOVE visiting Annapolis, MD. It is a beautiful city and they have a wonderful 4th of July fireworks display. To view the Annapolis Fireworks: At approximately 9:15PM, the fireworks will be launched from Farragut Field, on the USNA yard. The best viewing areas include public spaces Northeast of the Severn River, along the Naval Academy Bridge. Parking will be restricted in many areas but is available at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium off Rowe Boulevard. A FREE shuttle will be provided by the City of Annapolis from the Stadium to the downtown area at Lawyer’s Mall in front of the State House. The shuttle operates from 4:00PM to midnight.

New York

North Carolina

Carowinds Amusement Park is offering FREE admission, to any active or retired military personnel on July 4th and 5th. Along with free admission, active and retired members of the military will be able to purchase discounted admission tickets for members of their immediate family (maximum of six) at a special military discount price.

If you live near Ft. Bragg, they put on a great show which included the Golden Knights Freefall Parachute Demonstrations and they say that their celebration is open to the public and even includes a wife carrying event. Fireworks begin at 8:42 and are accompanied by the 1812 Overture.

Camp LeJuene’s 4th of July activities are also open to the public. Showtime begins at 8 PM and features the 2nd Marine Division Band with an appearance by Chrystal Coast Choral Society. Patrons without base vehicle decals must use the main gate for this event.

Cap off Independence Day weekend at the nation’s largest free outdoor Fourth of July concert — performed by the Goo Goo Dolls and The Roots — and, of course, an eye-popping, jaw-dropping, light-up-the-sky fireworks display that is A Salute to the Armed Forces. Arrive early. Bring lawn chairs, a blanket and a picnic. If you get to the Parkway early, you’ll be able to grab a great location for viewing the concert and the fireworks. FREE.

Texas

The H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert and Fireworks features patriotic music and the ever-popular 1812 Overture—the latter punctuated by 75-millimeter Howitzer cannons, courtesy of Texas National Guard Salute Battery, and spectacular fireworks over Lady Bird Lake. The H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert and Fireworks is free and open to the public. The Austin Symphony Orchestra will begin performing at 8:30 p.m. and the fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m., ending at 10:00 p.m. Come early, bring a picnic, claim a grassy spot and enjoy the patriotic music of the Austin Symphony Orchestra. Concessions will be available on site.

The San Antonio H-E-B Fireworks display will be shot over beautiful Woodlawn Lake at 9:00 PM. This FREE event is sponsored by the San Antonio Parks Foundation, in cooperation with the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department. During the daytime, the best of San Antonio’s local talent will be featured, leading up to the energetic and patriotic U.S. Air Force Band of the West at 7:30 PM, followed by the H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza.

Virginia

JULY 4TH CELEBRATION Mount Trashmore Park, Virginia Beach Sunday, July 4 4PM – 10PM. Celebrate America’s independence with live music, fun children’s activities, delicious festival foods, and of course booming fireworks! Free admission and $5 onsite parking.

4th of July Stars in the Sky July 4 7:00PM – 10:00PM Victory Landing Park The Virginia Peninsula ’s biggest July 4th event features entertainment, free children’s activities, food vendors ($), and fireworks over the James River Admission and parking are free. Directions: Take I-64 to I-664S, take Exit 6 to 26th St. , turn left onto Huntington Avenue., turn right onto 23 rd St. ; free parking available at the Newport News City Hall parking lot and designated non-restricted public parking spaces in the Downtown area. No pets, bicycles, alcohol, skateboards, or radios permitted in the event area.

Downtown Luray, Main Street Luray, VA Celebrate our Nation’s Birthday in beautiful Downtown Luray. The Annual Family Funfest kicks off at 2:00 with delicious foods, local crafts and live entertainment. Join in the fun with their traditional Duck Race, cash prizes are awarded for top winners! Children will be full of happiness and smiles as they enjoy all the fun activities and lots of inflatables. Washington, DC

Fireworks Time: At dark, usually around 9:15PM Rain Date: July 5th
Launch Location: The fireworks are launched from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and light up the sky over the Washington Monument. Being a DC baby this is always one of my favorite 4th of July celebrations. I recommend getting there early and taking the subway. Stations nearby include Metro Center, Gallery Place-Chinatown, Judiciary Square, Federal Triangle and L’Enfant Plaza.The Smithsonian Metro stations.
