“Stove Top Stuffing has been warming up families with delicious meals for nearly 40 years,” said Stove Top Brand Manager Ellen Thompson. “Today more than ever people need a little extra warmth beyond the dinner table, so Stove Top is lending a helping hand and inspiring others to do the same.”
I agree. Unemployment is about 10 percent and in some areas of this country it’s even worse. The Spread the Warmth Campaign helps to remind us that we all can make a difference with acts of kindness both large and small that truly impact the lives of others.
Check out the Stove Top Ambassadors’ blog to see what they are doing in select cities and learn how others are helping to spread the warmth in their communities. People are also invited to follow Stove Top’s Spread the Warmth initiative on Twitter at @SpreadtheWarmth to receive Ambassador updates or share additional ideas for helping others by using #STW in a Tweet. I am really thrifty when it comes to grocery shopping. I watch for sales and clip coupons. I save quite a bit of money and also get a lot of freebies. A couple of years ago, I decided to make personal hygiene bags for a group that hosts homeless men in our town. I needed to make 33 bags. They included full size containers of shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving cream and razors. I also included prayer cards and a personal note letting each man know that I was praying for him. I put all the items in a cloth drawstring bag that I sewed (I really never sewed before). It was an awesome project and cost me less than $50 to do and yet it made a huge difference in those 33 men’s lives.

I have collected a lot of our leftover Halloween candy and we’re donating it to troops in Iraq. While we cannot donate chocolate, hard candies that keep well (Jolly rancher, lollipops etc) are perfect.

My friend and her family had to move out of their house because of problems with it’s internal wires and pipes and were broke until payday.
I talked to her one day and she didn’t know what she was going to fix to eat, they had no gas for the stove and she sounded so sad. They were also so busy packing stuff, they didn’t really have time to try and fix something for themselves of their two children.
So I got a great idea, I made a bunch of cheeseburgers, and wrapped them individually, then I put several bags of differents lunch size chips, and baked some cookies for a cookie plate. I added some cold cans of soda.
I topped it off with paper plates and cups and napkins…everything they needed for a couple of meals. Then I drove over and delivered it to them.
They were so happy, and I’ll tell you it made me feel so good to do something nice for them. I think doing something nice like that is so good for your own soul.

In my family helping others in need is a huge part of the Holiday season. We help deliver food baskets before Christmas. I also participate in sending shoe boxes with gifts to poor kids in other countries

Once when I was working in a nursing home, I bought a little gift for each of the 45 clients living in the home. Very few of them had family that even visited them at all, and it was Christmas time. Though most all of my salary that month went to buying the gifts, I wouldn’t change a thing that I did.
20 Lauralee Hensley // Nov 14, 2009 at 10:37 pm
My favorite way to serve stove top stuffing is to stuff the already prepared Sage flavored Stove Top inside of a boneless skinless chicken breast that I carefully slit open, and I add in a little swiss cheese and ham. Then I bake it like I would Chicken breasts, but I add another 15 minutes of cooking time since the stuffings moisture and the thickness now slows down the cooking somewhat. I also turn it halfway through. It’s kinda like a Chicken Cordon Bleu, but with stuffing added.

I have learned through the kindness of others that “helping” does not have to be grand gestures, the small helping hand means a lot.
I have helped others by performing fix-it jobs around the house. I have a knack of repairing small appliances without really knowing how.
I also run errands.
31 Linda Lansford // Nov 15, 2009 at 3:06 pm

35 cwaltz // Nov 15, 2009 at 7:15 pm
I tend to like for my acts of kindness to be personal. I was a help when my elderly neighbor was first diagnosed with diabetes. I also have a neighbor on disability I have tried to help with budgetting tips to help her stretch her budget. I went inside and went grocery shopping with $50 after a guy outside our local Walmart was hoping for a meal inside Subway(which I also bought). We have a person in our park married to a war vet. I gave her various support groups after it came to my attention that he was struggling with reintegrating into civilian life.
I think that it’s important to remember that we are all God’s children and interconnected. “Whatsoever you do to the least of my bretren, that you do unto me.”

I am spending quite a big more time with my parents who live in another state trying to create more memories with my mother who has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. I am trying to keep things positive and cooking up a storm to have plenty of choices. Stuffing would make a great side dish that my mother could tolerate eating. Thanks for reminding me of this great side dish!

When my dad announced to the family that he had been let go after 16 years of climbing up the buisness latter:: i knew we were headed for the worst.
My 23 year old brother doesn’t have a job yet still lives at home. As much as it irks me–i knew i had to help out the family and get a second job.
I now work days and weekends and even live back at home to save money!
It’s hard to see MY bank account #’s are the same as i am literally Giving money to my parents!
Even so, i feel like this is just something i need to do–
i love my family more than anything and in these unsure times??
All we need is each other.

I take food that doesn’t need refrigeration and can be microwaved to a person we know that is staying in a garage office since losing his home. It’s never alot but enough to have a few meals and some junk food too. I never mention anything to him, just have my husband drop it by when he can.
I don’t expect any pat on the back or anything, I just would hope that if I was in that position I wouldn’t be forgotten altogether.
